Given the strong adhesive, Robinson adds, dip is considered the strongest and tends to last longer.
Here’s how to do it, according to experts.
What’s the difference between dip powder and gel?
Dip powder and gel are different in many ways, and that’s important to know for safe removal.
“Gelis applied wet with a brush and cured under an LED or UV lamp.
Dip powder is applied by layering acrylic powders over a gentle nail adhesive.”
But that also means it can be a bit tougher to remove at home.
Gel is a little more flexible, Remark explains.
What tools are needed for dip powder removal?
Removing dip nails is very similar to removal of any artificial nail enhancement, Aaron explains.
Its always best to file off the top layer of the artificial nail (the dip nail).
Once that top layer has been removed, you may then soak in pure acetone for a faster soak.
Los Angeles-based nail artistAshlie Johnsonsays this is a hack for speeding up the entire process.
“This will help prevent the skin around your nails from drying out,” she says.
A good indicator that you’re done: The dip should flake off easily.
If it doesn’t, she suggests soaking your nails for an additional five to seven minutes.
Remember, patience is your friend during the removal process.

Take your buffer and gently rub them off.
Buffing will also even out the texture of your nail and create a smooth finish.
Johnson says this is the best way to preventdamaged nailsfrom breaking or splitting.
The little luxuries make a big difference.
