A few brands have taken note and started manufacturing their own versions of the social media-famousstyling tool.
I did a little YouTube sleuthing for some tutorials from people with Afro-textured hair.
I typically wear my3C/4Astrands in a braid-out or wash-and-go, but some styles require a stretched-out base.
My blow-dried hair
I quickly learned that this was one of them.

Note to self: get a trim ASAP.
With my hair finally fully prepped, it was time to use the curler.
I wasn’t trippin' about it, of course I have plenty of clips around the house.
I wrapped pretty tightly I wanted the curls to be defined.
I did this until I had no more hair left to wrap.
I wrapped my head in a scarf and was off to bed.
I undid the scrunchies and then grabbed the middle of the curler and pulled upward.
My blow-dried hair
Big, loose curls fell on either side of my head.
The result: Lots of disco-esque, fluffy volume.
I knew the curls wouldn’t hold they never do when I start with stretched hair like this.

The parts that don’t get curled can look a little awkward if you don’t finesse them.
An easy fix for me would be to put my hair in a half-up, half-down style.
Bottom line: this method works if you have long enough hair lob-length and up.
