“We went up into my bathroom and she threw away maybe every product in my cupboard.
She’s like, ‘Nope.
Nope,'” recalls Hudson.
We took a trash can up there and we had a ball we had an absolute ball."
“We’ve always wanted to work together.
“During COVID we had to do everything via Zoom, but it was fun.
We were like, ‘Let’s do something fun.
“And I said, ‘I can do that,'” says Behnke.
“Kate loves rose.
Her daughter’s name is Rani Rose [and] she loves that color.
“This mask doesn’t take up a lot of time,” says Hudson.
“This isn’t a 15-to-20 minute mask.
This is a three-to-five minute mix ‘er up, throw ‘er on.
I put the mask on.
I brush my teeth.
I hop in the shower.”
It comes with a brush for stirring and applying the mask, which felt nice and cooling on skin.
I think it’s important,” says Hudson.
It’s kind of the one time I have to myself in my bathroom.”
It changes, doesn’t it, [as] you get older?
For me, beauty is about how we feel.
What are we doing in our lives that make us feel good?
And then it emanates.”
On the popularity of (and appeal behind) Hudson’s makeup-free photos:“I don’t know!
I got to be honest, I love seeing it all.
I love when women are made up.
I love when they’remakeup-free.
And I’m a little bit of both.
I like to get all glammed up.
I love putting on a face.
I love my sparkly nails right now.
There’s nothing natural about these nails right now.
And so, I don’t know.
I don’t know what that fascination is.
I personally like seeing everybody in whatever state they want to share.
I love makeup that [has] great pigment and color that’s actually really good for you.”
In the background, Rani adds, “I love makeup!”
and Hudson laughs, “Rani wants you to know she loves makeup.”
On Hudson’s current approach to beauty:“I’m really simple.
I thought that as I got older my skin would be able to take more.
And, in fact, my skin is sensitive.
The less I use the better.
I wake up and, honestly, I don’t do any cleanser.
I do water on my face in the morning with a cloth.
You know who told me this?
It was Gucci Westman when I was in my mid-twenties and she was doing my makeup.
She said, ‘You’ve got to stop washing your face in the morning.
You don’t need to do that.
That’s probably why you’re kind of breaking out more than you would normally.’
I stopped and then my skin got so much better.
So that’s what I do.
And I’ve been doing it forever.”
On smelling pretty darn amazing:“I’m just a sucker for orange blossom.
I love it, I love it, I love it.
It’s so funny that you’re not supposed to tell people what your favorite [perfumes] are.
You know who has the best scent ever?
She does my nails and she’s been doing them since forever, and she does a ton ofAllurecovers.
She had this scent that she created called Dark Rose.
I was like, ‘You better bottle this thing.’
She’s creating candles, [too].
My favorite orange blossom [scent] is [by] Le Labo.
But I [also] like a pure orange blossom oil.
And then jasmine I like jasmine, too.
