I knewLil Cherry’s face before I knew her high-octane music.

As someone who constantly tests the boundaries of beauty, I saw her as someone after my own heart.
Nearly every minute, she appeared on screen with a completely different aesthetic.
I was struck by how unapologetically unconventional and boldly authentic Lil Cherry is.

Her prismatic hair and makeup echoed her tongue-in-cheek tunes in all the right ways just as Lil Cherry intended.
“My beauty aesthetic is a real feeling.
It is something you want to remember when you see it.”
“When we’re being ourselves and living in the moment is when we feel the most beautiful.
So I’d say my beauty aesthetic is a real feeling.
It is something you want to remember when you see it.”
In its avant-garde music video, Lil Cherry fully solidifies herself as Korea’s newest cool girl.
They’lldye their hair, switch up their wardrobe, and try out newmakeup stylesto fully embody their latest visions.
“Every day is like Halloween,” Lil Cherry jokes.

Lil Cherry was nervous that wasn’t enough, though until Choi finished her makeup.
Her brother, who goes by GOLDBUUDA, is her go-to producer and often hops on her tracks.
In “Catwalk,” he even makes an appearance decked out in matching purple brows and hair.
Her ultra-long claws were even decked out in white faux fur.
When I mention these nails to Lil Cherry, she reveals her mom made them for her.
“Oh, really?
Is she a nail artist?”
“She does just about everything,” Lil Cherry reveals.
Interestingly enough, Lil Cherry didn’t care much about beauty and fashion growing up.
“That was the time period where I didn’t listen to my mom.”
“It has a positive effect on me.
I feel more put together and coordinated and ready to do everything I got to do.”
Lil Cherry also works with her mom to pay homage totraditional Korean aesthetics, as Lil Cherry mentions.
The contrast just solidifies how incredibly cool she is.
Lil Cherry laughs as she explains this to me.
For one, she usually doesn’t wear any makeup.
(And she’s starting to get more into the au-naturel look for performances, too.)
Throughout her life, her relationship with beauty has been complicated at times.
It’s a similar thing for beauty and the different makeup looks I do."
“Beauty is also something that is up to you to make a fun thing by experimenting.”
And on another level, Lil Cherry has been playing around with herskin-care routine, too.
“I actually have been struggling withadult acnefor the past year and a half,” she says.
“But recently, my skin got so much better because I changed one of my lotions.
The magical lotion in question isMilk Skinfrom theKorean beautybrand Tirtir.
(After looking into it, I want to try it asap.)
Later in our interview, Lil Cherry tells me she wants to circle back to our skin conversation.
Without missing a beat, she knows exactly how to honor their talents.
“Everyone has their own specialty, and making music and visuals is never a one-person thing.
It’s a team effort that’s the best part about it.
I love to see creatives around me do what they do.”
Anddamn, I can’t wait to see what Lil Cherry and her team come up with next.
