ALLURE:What made you decide to jump into the fragrance market?
Maluma:I wanted to give to everyone and all my fans a little piece of my taste.
The whole process was beautiful.
I chose the way they smell with the whole team.
We were in a lot of different meetings it was kind of hard because I’m picky.

It was a dream that I wanted to come true.
ALLURE:Why did you name your fragrance brand Royalty?
My world is like a royalty thing.
ALLURE:What was the experience like to work with Jennifer Lopez inMarry Me?
M:She’s great!
I’m very honored that I can call her my friend.
I learned a lot about acting with her.
She gave me a bunch of advice.
Everybody knows she’s super professional and her work ethic is impeccable.
We have a beautiful connection.
Being part of the movie was great.
Being there with Jennifer and Owen Wilson was beautiful too.
ALLURE:Like J.Lo, you’ve also collaborated with other icons in music like Madonna and Shakira.
M:Well, that’s the royalty!
They’re not only examples for other women, they’re examples for men.
We want to follow that lead.
It’s great working with all of them.
Like Jennifer Lopez, I callMadonnamy friend.
I have a good relationship with them.
At the end of the day, that’s what matters.
That’s the most important thing for me.
Do you have a message for your queer fans?
M:It’s amazing!
Now that we’re doing the fragrances, I was thinking about the LGBTQ+ community too.
Something pretty special about these fragrances that we’re launching is that they’re gender fluid.
I love inclusion in every genre.
I feel proud that in some way they feel [connected to me].
I feel blessed and that’s something epic because it’s a big community.
ALLURE:We’ve seen your style evolve from streetwear in Medellin to Versace.
How would you describe your personal style?
M:I woke up and felt like wearing this [in a suit].
Maybe tomorrow I’ll wear something super “street.”
I love evolving and trying to do something different.
I love being a game-changer and not following trends.
I love to create trends.
ALLURE:You were also inEncanto, which is set in Colombia.
What was that experience like?
They don’t talk about violence and drugs [when they think about Colombia].
For me, that’s beautiful.
They talk about Maluma.
They talk about James Rodriguez, the soccer player.
I was super proud to be part of it we just got nominated for the Oscars!
That’s Colombia: pure magic.
Allure:What can we expect from you next?
That’s another dream.
We’re still expanding in every way that we can make it.
I’m planning on releasing a lot of music, too.
I already have like, 60 songs that were recorded last year.
We’re planning huge things.
I want to bring people from everywhere in the world to check out the concert.
