Before getting my VI Peel
As soon as summer was over, I made an appointment for the VI Peel.
What Is the VI Peel?
“It is safe for those with sensitive skin and multiple skin tones,” adds Dr. Gohara.
Immediately post-peel
“Like with anypeel, [side effects like] irritation, redness, and peeling can occur.
Generally, anyone with an inflammatory skin condition such aseczemaorrosaceashould consult a dermatologist first.”
The VI Peel Original seemed to be the best and most cost-effective treatment to help fade my melasma quickly.

My treatment was $320 for one session.
I actually said out loud, “That’s it?!”

After the VI Peel, a light application of sheer foundation is enough to cover my melasma.
Freshly cleansed and prepped, I went to bed thinking that the cream would stave off any potential itching.
I was so wrong.
The itching started to subside during the day and I had no peeling yet to report.

When day three arrived, I was starting to get used to not using my normal skin-care routine.

On day three… the shedding begins.
“Avoid pulling off the excess skin.
If you must cut, like be sure to use clean cuticle scissors and avoid nicking/cutting yourself.
But if it’s possible for you to avoid cutting entirely, that would be best.”
I was grateful; however, I noticed the peeling starting to creep up to my nose and forehead.
It continued to get progressively lighter in the following weeks, which is to be expected.
“It often takes a couple of weeks to notice full results,” says Dr. Gohara.
She recommends getting follow-up peels four to six weeks apart.
